Waiting on Wednesday [24]

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted over at Breaking The Spine. The purpose is to spotlight upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating.

This week I am dying to read To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han.

To All the Boys I've Loved Before
by Jenny Han
Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers
April 22nd 2014
To All the Boys I've Loved Before is the story of Lara Jean, who has never openly admitted her crushes, but instead wrote each boy a letter about how she felt, sealed it, and hit it in a box under her bed. But one day, Lara Jean discovers that somehow her secret box of letters has been mailed, causing all her crushes from her past to confront her about the letters...

First and foremost I just love this cover. The title in the handwritten sharpie font? PERFECTION.

Secondly, when I was in grade school my little brother sent a letter to my crush telling him I liked him. Looking back now I think it's hilarious, but when it happened I was so, so, embarrassed. I'm so curious to see how this type of situation is approached fictionally and for a character who is obviously not in grade school like I was. I just love the concept and of course I'm a huge Jenny Han fan so I can't wait to see what she does with it.

Last but not least:

The protagonist is a hapa!!!!

Waiting On Wednesday [23]

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted over at Breaking The Spine. The purpose is to spotlight upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating.

This week I am waiting on Five Summers by Una LaMarche!

The summer we were nine: Emma was branded "Skylar's friend Emma" by the infamous Adam Loring....

The summer we were ten: Maddie realized she was too far into her lies to think about telling the truth...

The summer we were eleven: Johanna totally freaked out during her first game of Spin the Bottle...

The summer we were twelve: Skylar's love letters from her boyfriend back home were exciting to all of us - except Skylar...

Our last summer together: Emma and Adam almost kissed. Jo found out Maddie's secret. Skylar did something unthinkable.. and whether we knew it then or not, five summers of friendship began to fall apart. Three years after the fateful last night of camp, the four of us are coming back to camp for reunion weekend - and for a second chance.

I don't know about you guys but I LOVE summer camp books no matter how cheesy or unrealistic they might be. They just remind me of all my summer camp days sleeping away from home, hanging out with friends, and hoping that one of the cute camp guys might actually like me back. Unfortunately, my real life summer camp experiences do not include being wooed by any cute boys. Phooey. I guess part of why I love these books so much is because it allows me to live vicariously through them. :P

Anyhow this book sounds AWESOME. Not only is it a summer camp book, but it's a friendship summer camp book, and it chronicles five summers of summer camp! SO MUCH SUMMER CAMP YES. When summer rolls around this book will be at the top of my reading list for sure!

What book are YOU waiting on today? Be sure to let me know and link me to your blog so I can check it out!

Waiting on Wednesday [22]

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted over at Breaking The Spine. The purpose is to spotlight upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating.

This week I am waiting on Girl Defective by Simmone Howell!

We, the Martin family, were like inverse superheroes, marked by our defects. Dad was addicted to beer and bootlegs. Gully had "social difficulties" that manifested in his earing a pig snout mask 24/7. I was surface clean but underneath a weird hormonal stew was simmering....

It's summer in St. Kilda. Fifteen-year-old Sky is looking forward to great records, and nefarious activities with Nancy, her older, wilder, friend. Her brother - Super Agent Gully - is on a mission to unmask the degenerate who bricked the shop window. Bill the Patriarch seems content to drink while the shop slides into bankruptcy. A poster of a mysterious girl and her connection to Luke, the tragi-hot new employee sends Sky on an exploration into the dark heart of the suburb. Love is strange. Family Rules. In between there are teenage messes, rock star spawn, violent fangirls, creepy old guys, and accidents waiting to happen. If the world truly is going to hell in a hand-basket at least the soundtrack is kicking. Sky Martin is Girl Defective: funny, real, and dark at the edges.

Doesn't this book sound AWESOME?! I mean violent fangirls? Creepy old guys? THIS SUMMARY IS SPEAKING MY LANGUAGE!!! Not to say that I like those things, but you have to admit it's gonna be hilarious reading about them. Plus this whole thing sounds painfully hipster. I am so here for painfully hipster YA literature.

Girl Defective is coming out from Pan Macmillan Australia on March 1st. I guess I'll have to find some other hipster reading material to fill my time till then. Anyone have any suggestions?

Be sure to leave your WoW link in the comments below so I can check it out!

Waiting on Wednesday [21]

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted over at Breaking The Spine. The purpose is to spotlight upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating.

This week I am waiting on Prophecy by Ellen Oh!

The greatest warrior in all of the Seven Kingdoms... is a girl with yellow eyes.

Kira’s the only female in the king’s army, and the prince’s bodyguard. She’s a demon slayer and an outcast, hated by nearly everyone in her home city of Hansong. And, she’s their only hope...

Murdered kings and discovered traitors point to a demon invasion, sending Kira on the run with the young prince. He may be the savior predicted in the Dragon King Prophecy, but the missing treasure of myth may be the true key. With only the guidance of the cryptic prophecy, Kira must battle demon soldiers, evil shaman, and the Demon Lord himself to find what was once lost and raise a prince into a king.

Intrigue and mystery, ancient lore and action-packed fantasy come together in this heart-stopping first book in a trilogy.

Wow this sounds AWESOME! Plus the cover? Totally digging it. I know that a lot of people have been commenting that Prophecy sounds like a Graceling copycat but personally I think this sounds a lot better. I wasn't a big Graceling fan anyway. Plus: ASIAN AUTHORS WOOT!!!! I'll definitely be reading this when it comes out from HarperTeen on January 2nd 2013. :D

I was actually lucky enough to get to feature an interview of Ellen Oh during All Things Asian so if you guys want to go read more about her and her writing you should check that out here!

What books are you eagerly anticipating this week? Be sure to leave a comment with a link to your WoW post below so I can check it out!

Waiting on Wednesday [20]

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted over at Breaking The Spine. The purpose is to spotlight upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating.

The book I am super excited for this week is Going Vintage by Lindsey Leavitt!

The story of a girl figuring out the truths and illusions of life and love, both in the nostalgic past and in the very real now. Laugh-out-loud humor combines with a hint of romance in this delightful contemporary novel.

The cure for a broken heart? Go vintage and live like it’s 1962! Mallory’s boyfriend, Jeremy, isn’t just cheating on her. He’s cheating with an online girlfriend. So Mallory decides to swear off boys and modern technology. Inspired by a list of goals her grandmother made in 1962, Mallory decides to “go vintage” and return to a simpler time. She sets out to complete grandma’s list: run for pep club secretary, host a dinner party, sew a homecoming dress, find a steady, do something dangerous. The list proves to be trickier than it looks. Obviously finding a steady is out . . . no matter how intriguing she finds Oliver (er, Jeremy's cousin). But with the help of her sister, Mallory will finish the list and find peace.
Somehow.
Last year I was pleasantly surprised by Lindsey Leavitt's first novel Sean Griswold's Head so I have high hopes for Going Vintage! The premise sounds totally cute and quirky and I am SO onboard with the whole 1960's thing. I definitely cannot wait for this book. It's coming out from Bloomsbury on March 19th 2013. SO FAR AWAY!!!! :P

What books are you waiting on today?

Waiting on Wednesday [19]

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted over at Breaking The Spine. The purpose is to spotlight upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating.

My pick this week (that I am not so secretly DYING to read) is Shadows by Ilsa J. Bick!

Shadows
by Ilsa J. Bick
Publisher: Egmont Books
Publication Date: September 25th 2012
Add it to your shelf on Goodreads

The Apocalypse does not end.
The Changed will grow in numbers.
The Spared may not survive.

Even before the EMPs brought down the world, Alex was on the run from the demons of her past and the monster living in her head. After the world was gone, she thought Rule was a sanctuary for her and those she'd come to love.

But she was wrong.

Now she's in the fight of her life against the adults who would use her, the survivors who don't trust her, and the Changed who would eat her alive.

Welcome to Shadows, the second book in the haunting apocalyptic Ashes Trilogy: where no one is safe and humans may be the worst of the monsters.

I had the pleasure of meeting Ilsa J. Bick last year at the Ashes Launch Party at Changing Hands Bookstore. In fact it was the first author event I ever attended and Ilsa J. Bick was the first author I ever got a photo with and a signed book from! She is one of the coolest people you will ever meet. Seriously. But besides the fact that Ilsa is awesome her book Ashes is awesome too (have you not read it yet? What is wrong with you? GO READ IT NOW!) and it ended on one doozy of a cliffhanger so I am DYING to read Shadows. IF ANYONE HAS A COPY THAT THEY'RE WILLING TO LEND ME I WILL LOVE YOU FOREVER!!! Just saying. :P

What book are absolutely dying for?

Waiting on Wednesday [18]

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted over at Breaking The Spine. The purpose is to spotlight upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating.

This week I'm waiting on Thumped by Megan McCafferty.

It’s been thirty-five weeks since twin sisters Harmony and Melody went their separate ways. And now their story has become irresistible: twins separated at birth, each due to deliver twins…on the same day!

Married to Ram and living in Goodside, Harmony spends her time trying to fit back into the community she once believed in. But she can’t forget about Jondoe, the guy she fell for under the strangest of circumstances.

To her adoring fans, Melody has achieved everything: a major contract and a coupling with the hottest bump prospect around. But this image is costing her the one guy she really wants.

The girls’ every move is analyzed by millions of fans eagerly counting down to “Double Double Due Date.” They’re two of the most powerful teen girls on the planet, and they could do only one thing to make them even more famous:

Tell the truth.

Bumped was one of the craziest books of 2011. I know it rubbed some people the wrong way but I thoroughly enjoyed its insanity. I have no clue how Megan McCafferty is going to end this story but I'm pretty sure it's gonna be awesome.

Thumped is coming out April 24th 2012 from Balzar + Bray.

Waiting on Wednesday [17]

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted over at Breaking The Spine. The purpose is to spotlight upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating.

This week I'm waiting on Fear by Michael Grant.

Despite the hunger, despite the lies, even despite the plague, the kids of Perdido Beach are determined to survive. Creeping into the tenuous new existence they've built, though, is perhaps the worst incarnation yet of the enemy known as the Darkness: fear.
The Gone series by Michael Grant has slowly been becoming one of my favorites. Each installment has been better than the last and I'm excited and also a bit sad to see it come to and end with Fear. I've given up trying to predict what happens in this series since Michael Grant cooks up the craziest stuff but I'll bet Fear is gonna blow my mind. I guess I'll just have to wait and see!

Fear comes out on April 3rd from Katherine Tegen Books.

Waiting on Wednesday [16]

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted over at Breaking The Spine. The purpose is to spotlight upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating.

This week I'm waiting on Slide by Jill Hathaway!

Vee Bell is certain of one irrefutable truth—her sister’s friend Sophie didn’t kill herself. She was murdered.

Vee knows this because she was there. Everyone believes Vee is narcoleptic, but she doesn’t actually fall asleep during these episodes: When she passes out, she slides into somebody else’s mind and experiences the world through that person’s eyes. She’s slid into her sister as she cheated on a math test, into a teacher sneaking a drink before class. She learned the worst about a supposed “friend” when she slid into her during a school dance. But nothing could have prepared Vee for what happens one October night when she slides into the mind of someone holding a bloody knife, standing over Sophie’s slashed body.

Vee desperately wishes she could share her secret, but who would believe her? It sounds so crazy that she can’t bring herself to tell her best friend, Rollins, let alone the police. Even if she could confide in Rollins, he has been acting off lately, more distant, especially now that she’s been spending more time with Zane.

Enmeshed in a terrifying web of secrets, lies, and danger and with no one to turn to, Vee must find a way to unmask the killer before he or she strikes again.

Wow. With a summary like that who wouldn't be interested in reading Slide? A mystery plus some unique and creepy paranormal elements? This sounds right up my alley!

Slide comes out March 27th, 2012.

Click here to add it on Goodreads!

Waiting on Wednesday [15]

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted over at Breaking The Spine. The purpose is to spotlight upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating.

This week I'm waiting on Revived by Cat Patrick.

As a little girl, Daisy Appleby was killed in a school bus crash. Moments after the accident, she was brought back to life.

A secret government agency has developed a drug called Revive that can bring people back from the dead, and Daisy Appleby, a test subject, has been Revived five times in fifteen years. Daisy takes extraordinary risks, knowing that she can beat death, but each new death also means a new name, a new city, and a new life. When she meets Matt McKean, Daisy begins to question the moral implications of Revive, and as she discovers the agency’s true goals, she realizes she’s at the center of something much larger — and more sinister — than she ever imagined.

I absolutely LOVED Cat Patrick's first novel Forgotten (if you haven't read it yet WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!?! Its amazing!) so you can probably imagine how excited I am about Revived. The premise reminds me a little bit of the movie Source Code but a lot better since that movie sort of sucked. :P

Revived comes out May 8th 2012. SO FAR AWAY. :(

Waiting on Wednesday [14]

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted over at Breaking The Spine. The purpose is to spotlight upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating.

This week I'm waiting on Never Enough by Denise Jaden!

Loann’s always wanted to be popular and pretty like her sister, Claire. So when Claire’s ex-boyfriend starts flirting with her, Loann is willing to do whatever it takes to feel special…even if that means betraying her sister.

But as Loann slips inside Claire’s world, she discovers that everything is not as it seems. Claire’s quest for perfection is all-consuming, and comes at a dangerous price. As Claire increasingly withdraws from friends and family, Loann struggles to understand her and make amends. Can she heal their relationship—and her sister—before it’s too late?

Okay firstly: look at that cover! Absolutely GORGEOUS! And secondly the summary sounds amazing! I'm always on the lookout for a good contemp involving sisters because I have one of my own and this one sounds right up my alley.

I really enjoyed Denise Jaden's debut novel Losing Faith and Never Enough sounds just as good if not better! Why must it not come out till July 2012? Torture! :P

What are you waiting on this wednesday?

Waiting on Wednesday [13]

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted over at Breaking The Spine. The purpose is to spotlight upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating.

This week I'm waiting on The Language of Impossible Dreams by Sarah Ockler!

Once upon a time, Hudson knew exactly what her future looked like. Then a betrayal changed her life, and knocked her dreams to the ground. Now she’s a girl who doesn’t believe in second chances... a girl who stays under the radar by baking cupcakes at her mom’s diner and obsessing over what might have been.

So when things start looking up and she has another shot at her dreams, Hudson is equal parts hopeful and terrified. Of course, this is also the moment a cute, sweet guy walks into her life...and starts serving up some seriously mixed signals. She’s got a lot on her plate, and for a girl who’s been burned before, risking it all is easier said than done.

It’s time for Hudson to ask herself what she really wants, and how much she’s willing to sacrifice to get it. Because in a place where opportunities are fleeting, she knows this chance may very well be her last....

When I found about this book I basically squealed with joy! Sarah Ockler is definitely one of my favorite authors. I read and loved both Twenty Boy Summer and Fixing Delilah so I think its pretty safe to say that I have high hopes for The Language of Impossible Dreams! I mean come on, its got: cupcakes, diners, New York, and ice skating! That's a winning combination if I've ever heard of one.

This one won't be released till August 2012. SUCH A LONG WAIT!!!! :P

Waiting on Wednesday [12]

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted over at Breaking The Spine. The purpose is to spotlight upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating.

This week I'm waiting on Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi!

Juliette hasn't touched anyone in exactly 264 days. The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette's touch is fatal. As long as she doesn't hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old-girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don't fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.

The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war- and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she's exactly what they need right now.

Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.

OHMYGOSHITSOUNDSSOAMAZING!!!!!!

I'll admit I wasn't sold on this book at first. I thought (and still do think actually) that the cover is a bit weird... But then I read this review of Shatter me by Novel Thought and she convinced me that this book is gonna be amazing. Tough female heroine? Awesome dystopian setting? CUTE GUY CHARACTER? Yeah, I'm sold. :)

Sadly Shatter Me won't be released till November 15th. But, in the meantime you can go and enter to win 1 of 20 copies over at GoodReads!

Oh and be sure to stalk, errrrr I mean follow the authors blog! Its pretty dang awesome.

Waiting on Wednesday [11]

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted over at Breaking The Spine. The purpose is to spotlight upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating.

This week I'm waiting on Out of Sight, Out of Time by Ally Carter!

The last thing Cammie Morgan remembers is leaving the Gallagher Academy to protect her friends and family from the Circle of Cavan--an ancient terrorist organization that has been hunting her for over a year. But when Cammie wakes up in an alpine convent and discovers months have passed, she must face the fact that her memory is now a black hole.  The only traces left of Cammie’s summer vacation are the bruises on her body and dirt under her nails, and all she wants is to go home.

Once she returns to school, however, Cammie realizes that even the Gallagher Academy now holds more questions than answers.  Cammie, her friends, and mysterious spy-guy Zach must face their most difficult challenge yet as they travel to the other side of the world, hoping to piece together the clues that Cammie left behind.   It’s a race against time.  The Circle is hot on their trail and willing stop at nothing to prevent Cammie from remembering what she did last summer.

I. Cannot. Wait. For. This. Book. Seriously, I LOVE THIS SERIES. Sure its a bit cheesy at moments, but still. ITS ABOUT TEEN SPIES. Therefore, its a win. Oh and have I ever mentioned how much I LOVE Ally Carter? In short, this book can't come soon enough. If you've read the Gallagher Girls series up till this point then you will understand why its so hard to wait for Out of Sight, Out of Time and how crazy intriguing the summary is!

Out of Sight, Out of Time won't be officially published until March 20, 2012. Cruel? I think so. :P

Waiting on Wednesday [10]

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted over at Breaking The Spine. The purpose is to spotlight upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating!

This week I'm waiting on The Rivals by Daisy Whitney!

When Alex Patrick was assaulted by another student last year, her elite boarding school wouldn't do anything about it. This year Alex is head of the Mockingbirds, a secret society of students who police and protect the student body. While she desperately wants to live up to the legacy that's been given to her, she's now dealing with a case unlike any the Mockingbirds have seen before.

It isn't rape. It isn't bullying. It isn't hate speech. A far-reaching prescription drug ring has sprung up, and students are using the drugs to cheat. But how do you try a case with no obvious victim? Especially when the facts don't add up, and each new clue drives a wedge between Alex and the people she loves most: her friends, her boyfriend, and her fellow Mockingbirds.

As Alex unravels the layers of deceit within the school, the administration, and even the student body the Mockingbirds protect, her struggle to navigate the murky waters of vigilante justice may reveal more about herself than she ever expected.

I totally loved Daisy Whitney's first book The Mockingbirds so I'm hoping this sequel will be just as good. I'm totally intrigued by the whole prescription drug aspect and yay for navigating the murky waters of vigilante justice! Haha. Gotta love the wording in the summary. XD

This is getting published on February 6th 2012.

What are you waiting on this wednesday?

Waiting on Wednesday [9]

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted over at Breaking The Spine. The purpose is to spotlight upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating!

This week I'm waiting on The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin!

Mara Dyer doesn't think life can get any stranger than waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there.

It can.

She believes there must be more to the accident she can't remember that killed her friends and left her mysteriously unharmed.

There is.

She doesn't believe that after everything she's been through, she can fall in love.

She's wrong.

Why am I waiting on this? Well for one the cover of The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer is so intriguing. Its mysterious, and eerie and just begging for me to read it! And then there's the summary. Lost memories? Unexplainable events? I'm sold!

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer is going to be released on September 27th.

What are you waiting on this Wednesday?

Waiting on Wednesday [8]

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted over at Breaking The Spine. The purpose is to spotlight upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating!

This week I'm waiting on The Death Cure by James Dashner!

Thomas knows that Wicked can't be trusted, but they say the time for lies is over, that they've collected all they can from the Trials and now must rely on the Gladers, with full memories restored, to help them with their ultimate mission. It's up to the Gladers to complete the blueprint for the cure to the Flare with a final voluntary test.

What Wicked doesn't know is that something's happened that no Trial or Variable could have foreseen. Thomas has remembered far more than they think. And he knows that he can't believe a word of what Wicked says.

The time for lies is over. But the truth is more dangerous than Thomas could ever imagine.
Will anyone survive the Death Cure?

Isn't the cover awesome? James Dashner just revealed it on his blog about a week ago and its made me get excited about this book all over again! The Scorch Trials ended on like the most torturous cliffhanger ever so I've been longing for this book for months now. Haha. Just a couple more months to go right? :P

The Death Cure is gonna be released on October 11th!

So what are you waiting on this Wednesday?

Julia :)

Waiting on Wednesday [7]

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted over at Breaking The Spine. The purpose is to spotlight upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating!

This week I'm waiting on The Power of Six by Pittacus Lore!

I've seen him on the news. Followed the stories about what happened in Ohio. John Smith, out there, on the run. To the world, he's a mystery. But to me . . . he's one of us.

Nine of us came here, but sometimes I wonder if time has changed us—if we all still believe in our mission. How can I know? There are six of us left. We're hiding, blending in, avoiding contact with one another . . . but our Legacies are developing, and soon we'll be equipped to fight. Is John Number Four, and is his appearance the sign I've been waiting for? And what about Number Five and Six? Could one of them be the raven-haired girl with the stormy eyes from my dreams? The girl with powers that are beyond anything I could ever imagine? The girl who may be strong enough to bring the six of us together?

They caught Number One in Malaysia.
Number Two in England.
And Number Three in Kenya.
They tried to catch Number Four in Ohio—and failed.

I am Number Seven. One of six still alive.

And I'm ready to fight.

Okay so I know this is coming out of James Frey's fiction factory (which I totally DO NOT support) but I actually thought I Am Number Four was pretty good (the movie was freaking AWESOME!) and I'm curious to see where the story goes. The summary of this one sounds even better than I Am Number Four. Although I have to say that the title is super misleading. Its not about Number Six but Number Seven? Yeahhh weirdness.

The Power of Six is coming out on August 23rd. Will you be reading it?

Julia :)

Waiting on Wednesday [6]

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted over at Breaking The Spine. The purpose is to spotlight upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating!

This week I'm waiting on Beauty Queens by Libba Bray!

From bestselling, Printz Award-winning author Libba Bray, the story of a plane of beauty pageant contestants that crashes on a desert island. Teen beauty queens. A "Lost"-like island. Mysteries and dangers. No access to email. And the spirit of fierce, feral competition that lives underground in girls, a savage brutality that can only be revealed by a journey into the heart of non-exfoliated darkness. Oh, the horror, the horror! Only funnier. With evening gowns. And a body count.

I really liked Libba Bray's Gemma Doyle Trilogy so I'm hoping that I'll enjoy this book too! It sounds super hilarious but also a little bit edgy. I'm expecting a lot of cat fights and mental breakdowns!!! Should be pretty interesting.

I have to say that I'm not a big fan of this cover. Its sort of cheesy. A girl in a bikini wearing a bullet holder full of lipsticks? Yeah just a bit strange. Plus I just know that when I check this book out from the Library my brothers are going to say "Oh my gosh, Julia WHY are you checking out a book with a girl in a bikini on the cover? It's DISTURBING!!!" :P

Beauty Queens is coming out on May 24th just in time for summer! Oh my gosh summer is only like a month away! Are you guys excited? I'm excited!!!

Julia :)

Waiting on Wednesday [5]

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted over at Breaking The Spine. The purpose is to spotlight upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating!

This week I'm waiting on We'll Always Have Summer by Jenny Han!

It's been two years since Conrad told Belly to go with Jeremiah. She and Jeremiah have been inseparable ever since, even attending the same college-- only, their relationship hasn't exactly been the happily ever after Belly had hoped it would be. And when Jeremiah makes the worst mistake a boy can make, Belly is forced to question what she thought was true love. Does she really have a future with Jeremiah? Has she ever gotten over Conrad? It's time for Belly to decide, once and for all, who has her heart forever.

This series is THE PERFECT summer reading! Beach house anyone? While I like this series I have to say that I'm not totally in love with it. This is probably because I made the mistake of reading the first one while I was in the show Bye Bye Birdie. For those who don't know about the show its centers around a Elvis kind of character named Conrad Birdie. Lets just say that while reading The Summer I Turned Pretty everytime Conrads name popped up this would run through my head:

Yep, you can imagine how wonderful that must have been. XD

Regardless of the unfortunate Bye Bye Birdie connection I still enjoyed the book and the second one and I cannot wait to see what finally happens in the conclusion of this wonderful series! I'm rooting for Belly to end up with Jeremiah. ;)
